I have been re-reading Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan and the beginnings of his Christian walk are similar to our own journey. 

First Christian becomes despondent. He is depressed because of his burden of sin, but he doesn’t know what to do about it. So he tries to earn his salvation by keeping the law. Then he meets Evangelist who points him in the right direction.  He finally makes it onto the Narrow Way and falls at the foot of the cross. His burden of sin rolls away and is lost forever and he continues on his way with joy in his heart (John 3:16).  Read More
